Overall, this record is the result of years of tweaking and learning what works best for the band and their creative process. It stands as a cohesive work between talented musicians that have learned how best to work with each other to the benefit of the individual song. I don't think one member stands out more than another and that's one of my favorite things about this album. Sam and Stephens rhythms perfectly complement each song while Erik's leads and hooks find the right times to shine. Instrumentally, they aren't breaking any boundaries, but that's not the point. "Name Brand" stands out to me with the lines " I piss away my money on this bourgeoisie coffee/I am a child who needs pleasing/Pacifier lost my mouth I’m screaming". Lyrically, I think it's more "mature" than their past songs with songs like "I'm My Own Doctor" and "Yer Killin Me" deploying clever lines and tongue-in-cheek metaphors to convey a deeper and more serious meaning. Their newest album, "Greatest Hit's", boasts refined rhythms and tasty jams under Erik's well honed vocal skills.

I wish they played more songs off of “Greatest Hits,” but I am happy I was able to see them live. One of the more "up beat" acts from Minnesota, Remo Drive, has taken great care to craft their signature brand of emo tinged pop punk into something they can all be proud of. Overall, I had the best time at this concert. They finally finished their set by playing Strawberita, another one of my favorite songs. Remo Drive went on to play their newer music, which I was not a fan of when I first listened to it on Spotify, but I actually enjoyed these songs live. The crowd was amazing, and the mosh was not too aggressive, which always makes the concert so much more enjoyable. It was purely euphoric being in a mosh pit and listening to one of my favorite songs. The crowd was going crazy and having such a good time jumping around. This song instantly started the mosh pit. Their first song they played was “Art School”, in my opinion, one of their best songs off the “Greatest Hits” album. I was excited when I heard the guitar start for the opening lines, but I ended up being let down by this song because it was simply not executed as well as their recorded version.įinally, Remo Drive came out. With all of my heckling in the crowd asking for them to play this song, it was the last on their set list. I was excited to hear Boyscott play “Nova Scotia 500”-my personal favorite. The day Boyscott’s new songs are released, I will be listening to themit non-stop, and of course telling everyone I heard the songs live first. I really enjoyed their new tunes, and it was neat that we got to hear their songs live before they have been released on any platform.

Boyscott has not released new music on Spotify in three years, but they played mostly unreleased songs. Immediately when Boyscott started to play, I noticed how the drummer made me enjoy their music more than Another Michael’s performance. Boyscott is an indie band, so it was an easy transition from Another Michael to Boyscott’s music. This was a great surprise for me, because I really like Boyscott, but I bought these concert tickets to see Remo Drive and did not know they would be opening for them. Another Michael did not have the strongest drums, and that definitely hindered their appeal to me. A good drummer and use of drums can really make or break a band. The only real let down was Another Michael’s drummer and their use of drums. Then they progressed into a few slower songs, and finished with another upbeat song leaving the crowd excited for the artists to followcome. Their first song was upbeat and lively, and got the crowd involved and grooving around. I thoroughly enjoyed the sequence of songs that they played. Their stage presence was timid, but their music was beautiful live. The band, Another Michael, was the first opener, and they were so much fun. The openers for the concert were Another Michael and Boyscott, two indie and bedroom-rock bands.
